As the Director of Information Security at The New School, Yonesy F. Nuñez manages internal and external information security issues. He ensures that all systems have proactive information security protections and meet industry standards whilst adhering to stringent information security program mandates.
Yonesy F. Nuñez has more than twelve years experience in designing and implementing information security programs and solutions. He previously held the position of Global Manager, IT Governance, Security, and Compliance at Pall Corporation where he introduced the first holistic global information security, IT governance, and compliance programs. Prior to that, Mr. Nuñez was the Senior Security Consultant/Project Manager at Stryker Orthopaedics, where he implemented a resilient wireless security infrastructure and a threat and vulnerability management lifecycle program. Also, he was the Senior Systems Security Specialist/Director at ConEdison Solutions, where he managed the enterprise information security implementation. At New York Media Group he was the Director/Network Administrator, where he designed secure network architectures.
Yonesy F. Nuñez holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Finance and Computer Information Systems and a minor in economics from Manhattan College, a Master of Science degree in Information Systems Engineering from Polytechnic University, and is currently finishing his Doctorate of Professional Studies in Computing focusing on Information Assurance and Security at Pace University. He holds numerous information security certifications: Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Information Systems Security Management Professional (ISSMP), Information Systems Security Architecture Professional (ISSAP), International Systems Security Professional Certification Scheme (ISSPCS) Practioner, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and Security+. He stays abreast of the relevant body of knowledge through newsgroups and is an active participant in the New York Metropolitan area chapters of ISSA, ISACA, and Infragard, a public and private sector collaboration with the FBI, where he is the President for the Long Island chapter. Mr. Nuñez is also a professional associate at Mercy College where he lectures on Linux, Risk Management, and Network Security related topics.
