Having over 15 years experience in the private security industry, Frank Catalano currently serves as the Director of Security at the New York Institute of Technology in Central Islip. Frank is responsible for daily Security Operations; including investigations, state mandated drills, and security preparedness programs. He also serves as the liaison for the college with their contracted Security vendor, and oversees all annual security related budget issues.
Prior to his current position, Frank was Assistant Director of Security at the schools Old Westbury Campus. Before that he was Security Manager for AlliedBarton Security Services. Assigned to the New York Institute of Technology, he was responsible for meeting the staffing levels, training, and supervision of Security Officers assigned to the site.
Frank has been a dedicated and active member of the Long Island College & University Security Consortium for 9 years, a member of ASIS (American Society for Industrial Security International) for 6 years, Serving as the LI Chapter Membership Chairman in 2008, Treasurer in 2009, Vice Chairman in 2010, and Currently Chairman. He currently is a member of the ACP International- Long Island(Association of Contingency Planners). He previously was a member of LI-CPE (Contingency Planning Exchange) for 5 years, serving the board as Security/Law Enforcement Liaison in 2008. He was appointed as Executive Vice Chairman in 2009, and served as Executive Chairman in 2011.
Through these and other various organizations, Frank has developed many professional relationships and affiliations within the industry. He maintains a good rapport with local law enforcement officials & fire agencies and serves as a valuable resource to the security community.
Frank achieved the CPP certification through ASIS in 2008. He is currently studying for a degree in Behavioral Science/Criminal Justice, and holds various certifications in Security and Emergency Management. He also holds the title of C-CERT (Campus Community Response Team) instructor.
